Surprisingly enough this is probably the most popular answer to the question "Are you a Christian?" Unfortunately, the person saying "I try to be" is demonstrating either a flippant attitude towards the sacrifice of Christ or he simply misunderstands the basics of what it means to be saved.
If you're being flippant, I would suggest that you study the evidences for the accuracy of scripture. A flippant attitude towards Christ is generally indicative of someone who lacks respect for the bible.
